Info-Corner

    Montag, 21.11.2011 00:00

Right by the flight-office we now have two screens giving instant info on the OLC and, more important, the instant wind and temperature and a recording for every hour. The infos come from the new installation by the windsock at the palmalley.

What?

    Donnerstag, 17.11.2011 00:00

A Jaxida-Cover by the flight office?

ET

    Sonntag, 06.11.2011 10:29

We have been invaded! Not by ET People but by Swiss tourists who landed on 09 Hangar with four power planes, all Cessnas 210 with more than 300hp and a very nice sound. The tourists were amazed at the wingspan of the gliders in the palm alley. JR gave them some numbers about performances in Bitterwasser. They loved it.

ASH 25 M - AZ

    Sonntag, 06.11.2011 10:29

The Bitterwasser ASH 25 M is flying again. Our specialist for engines, Stefan Hueveler has installed the serviced engine and a brand new prop. The goal was to test in the air that all was ok. After much work by Stefan, I made the test-flight a half hour before sunset.
Thank you so much – Stefan!

First pilots

    Montag, 31.10.2011 18:28

Today, with the arrival of the first pilots, we‘ve raised some of the flags. Biwa is on the move. The flight office is still a mess. But an « organized » mess now, with lots of holes in the walls and cables! Christian is busy, enjoying himself. Things are improving greatly.

New girls in the restaurant

    Montag, 31.10.2011 18:27

We are all very sad! Beautiful Magnaem has left Bitterwasser lodge for a job in Windhoek! The French airline pilots, who nicknamed her « Miss Namibia » will weep! But all is not lost! Look, look, look! Here are the new girls in the restaurant. All smiles!

How many containers?

    Samstag, 29.10.2011 20:02

The flight office is a total mess, better avoid it today! Christian is fighting with WiFi and internet. And Dieter is cleaning the two rooms. It will be operational tomorrow.
Look at the picture. How many containers? Eight!! It was interesting watching the guys unloading them. Biiiig powerful trucks. And there is one more to come tomorrow. We’ll stop at nine this year, but there is ample room for more next year.

The crew has arrived

    Mittwoch, 26.10.2011 00:00

This year, we’ve decided to give you an entertaining account of what was happening around the pan !

That’s the day we arrived, around midday (Rainer Hog and his wife, Lore Leo, Bernd Mangold, Christian Hynek, Stefan Senger and « JR » Faliu). Dieter Schwenk battled in Windhoek with DCA for a whole day and was at the site on the 29th.

Very innocently, Rainer suggested that we gave a look at some of the six containers already on site. Just a look Bernd said. We found ourselves unloading four gliders (two Antares, one Nimbus 4DM, and one DG 800) and starting to rig them !! « Just a look », remember the term! I wonder what Bernd means by « working » ??

Containers arrived

    Sonntag, 16.10.2011 22:32

The first containers arrived in Bitterwasser. A little secret is in the box on the right side of this photo, the content will make this season a lot of pressure! :)

Info from Flightoffice

    Sonntag, 09.10.2011 15:15

Dear Guests, members and visitors from the glider`s paradise.
Your vacation is fast approaching and the Flightoffice Preparations is at full swing. Unfortunately, I´ve still no valid NOTAM from the Namibian air traffic control over the arragnements for this year. We wait out each day. We assume, hovever, that the airspace will be like last season.
News will be posted here of course.

As before, we need a copy of current license and medical certificate and if the radio license is not entered in the license, even a copy from each pilot. We would appreciate it if you have the possibility to do this in advance before your departure, if possible, scan your documents and send it by e-mail at:
cfi@bitterwasser.eu
Of course it`s also still possible in Bitterwasser, but what can be done in advance is done. Thank you for your help.

Now I wisch you all have a nice looking forward to the upcoming holiday.
Dieter

Little Palms of Bitterwasser

My 1000 km flight was recognised by the FAI and I have been awarded FAI 1000 km badge number 574. I have been interviewed by the National Aeroclub of Serbia and that interview I have translated to english and my club in Australia has published the interview under title "Little Palms of Bitterwasser" (my suggested title was "The Palms of Bitterwasser") If you have time you can go ahead and read it and perhaps it would be interesting to include it on the Bitterwasser websight.
Thank you very much , best regards, and hope to see you soon in BW,
